When I’m driving home in Los Angeles traffic after a long day, I blast Latin music. I often sing along at the top of my lungs and dance in my seat. If you looked over from your car and saw this half White, half Japanese girl singing in Spanish, you would think she was crazy.
I kind of am.
But I’m also the first to recognize that and embrace it. Because that’s the funny thing about people. There’s more to everyone than meets the eye. Yes, I dance in the car. Yes, I sing in Spanish. But I also freeze like a deer in headlights the moment someone sees me.
I’m not just crazy or just shy. I’m a sum of a bunch of experiences that have made me who I am.
That’s what I love about photography. It’s the ability to capture the essence of people through photos. Who they really are.
Who am I?
I love dogs, but have never had one. 80′s movies are awesome–John Hughes was brilliant. I worked in both live action and animation film and television before becoming a photographer. I love to travel and have been to a range of places from Hawaii to Germany, Mexico to Japan. Bryan is my fiance, he’s pretty cool. Growing up, I would clip photos of Jonathan Brandis and JTT from BOP and 16 magazine and organize them alphabetically into binders. Now the pages are from editorial shoots, but still organized in binders. I like to cook, but am better at baking. I am an occasional knitter. My secret dream is to own a guacamole garden (a garden with avocados, cilantro, onions, tomatoes, jalapenos, etc). For now I grow plants on our patio. My favorite TV is the reality kind (Bravo! TLC! OWN!). But Mad Men is amazing. I am a WDWCP alumna (bonus points if you know what that is). I live to eat, not the other way around. My family is everything to me. I think I will eternally look 18 years old (but I’m not!).
